Multiple owners have posted stories about key fobs losing communication with their new Jeeps. In fact, there are more than five pages worth of chatter and devoted to this issue.

It will start the car, but as far as locking the doors, and popping open the hatch glass, it's DEAD. The local dealership verified this with some

Sometimes I can get the car to start with the push button by holding the key fob close to the instrument cluster, but other times even that does not work.
A small coin battery installed inside the your remote key fob. Remove any internal key first, and then try to pry apart the keyless entry remote. Gently try to pry apart your remote key fob with hands or flat head screwdriver. Remove CR2032 battery with flat head screwdriver. Now it's time to install new battery inside keyless entry fob's case. Press the Unlock button, and verify the Jeep Grand Cherokee doors unlock. Next, press Lock, and confirm the doors lock.
